Shawna Edwards
Shawna Edwards is a Christian songwriter who writes songs to share her faith in Jesus Christ. Her YouTube channel, Shawna Edwards Music, has over 50,000 followers and nearly 25 million views. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Shawna has lived most of her life in Utah. She attended Brigham Young University where she was originally a Piano Performance major but returned at the age of 45 to finish her degree and earned a BA in Commercial Music.
She says her first priority was to be a full-time mother, so she didn’t begin seriously writing music until about 2008. Since then, she has placed approximately 30 original songs on YouTube and on music apps such as iTunes and Spotify. Her songs have been sung in Christian congregations and homes in over 100 different countries.
Shawna writes, “The most meaningful part of songwriting is connecting with people from all over the world and all walks of life. Through music, I have made friends with preachers, nuns, and worship coordinators; school teachers, choir directors and aspiring musicians; parents, teenagers and children. It’s been a privilege.”
Shawna says the best thing she has ever done is marry John, who is both her “biggest fan and most brutal critic.” She and John live in Utah and enjoy cycling, road-tripping, and watching sports together. They have five children and 16 grandchildren.
