How soon after baptism may a new convert be ordained to the office of high priest? It is customary to bestow the Aaronic Priesthood upon a man and ordain to the office of priest the same day as baptism, and it is not unheard of (though it is uncommon) to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and be ordained to the office of elder the same day as baptism. But is there verifiable precedent of bestowing the Melchizedek Priesthood upon a man and then ordaining him directly to the office of high priest (by passing the office of elder altogether)?
